Luka Dončić, born on February 28, 1999, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, is one of the most talented European basketball players of all time. Dončić began his basketball journey with Union Olimpija before joining Real Madrid's youth academy. At just 16, he became the youngest player to debut for Madrid's senior team. He led the team to a EuroLeague Championship in 2018, winning both EuroLeague MVP and Final Four MVP. His success continued when he helped Slovenia secure its first EuroBasket title in 2017.

Luka Dončić’s basketball journey began at Union Olimpija
when he was just eight years old. Invited to train with the club, he quickly

Olimpija’s under-14 squad. In 2011, he showcased his talent at the Vasas Intesa

2015–16: Early Years at Real Madrid
Luka Dončić made his professional debut for Real Madrid
on April 30, 2015, in a Liga ACB match against Unicaja. At just 16 years, two
months, and two days old, he became the youngest player in Real Madrid history
to play in the ACB League. That season, he played five games, averaging 1.6
points and 1.2 rebounds in limited minutes.
The 2015–16 season marked Dončić’s full integration into
Real Madrid’s senior squad. He played against the Boston Celtics in an NBA
preseason game, showcasing his skills on a global stage. On October 16, 2015,
he made his EuroLeague debut against Khimki, becoming the 21st player in
history to debut before turning 17. Dončić’s standout moment came on November
29, 2015, when he posted 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists against Bilbao,

By the end of the season, Dončić averaged 4.5 points, 2.6

2016–17: Rise to Prominence
Dončić’s breakout season began in September 2016, when he
recorded six points and four assists against Unicaja. A few months later, on December
4, 2016, he posted his first double-double with 23 points and 11 assists
against Montakit Fuenlabrada, earning his first ACB Player of the Week award.
His EuroLeague dominance began when he scored 17 points
in a victory over Žalgiris Kaunas on December 8, 2016. Two weeks later, he
became the youngest MVP of the Round in EuroLeague history after a 16-point,
six-rebound, five-assist performance against Brose Bamberg.
On February 18, 2017, Dončić recorded a season-high 23
points against Baskonia in the Spanish King's Cup. He continued his strong
playoff run, securing EuroLeague MVP of the Round honors twice in April 2017.
That season, Dončić averaged 7.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in the
ACB and 7.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in the EuroLeague. He was

2017–18: MVP Season & European Domination
Following an injury to Sergio Llull, Dončić became Real
Madrid’s primary playmaker in the 2017–18 season. He opened the EuroLeague
season with a career-high 27 points against Anadolu Efes. On October 24, he
exploded for 27 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, earning MVP of the
Round honors, a feat he repeated just two days later.
In December 2017, Dončić set a career-high 33 points
against Olympiacos Piraeus. By May 2018, he recorded a triple-double against
Real Betis Energía Plus, the first in Liga ACB since 2007. His stellar
performances led Real Madrid to the EuroLeague Finals, where he scored 15
points in the championship game against Fenerbahçe Doğuş, securing the EuroLeague
Final Four MVP award.
At just 19 years old, Dončić won the EuroLeague MVP,
becoming the youngest in history to do so. He also repeated as EuroLeague
Rising Star and won the ACB MVP award after leading Real Madrid to the Spanish

On June 29, 2018, Dončić officially parted ways with Real

2010–20 All-Decade Team, securing his place in March 2020. On March 23, 2021, Real

2018–19: Rookie of the Year
In the 2018 NBA Draft, Dončić was selected third overall
by the Atlanta Hawks but was traded to the Dallas Mavericks for Trae Young and
a future first-round pick. Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle called him a "franchise
foundation piece."
Dončić made his NBA debut on October 17, 2018, posting 10
points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Just days later, he recorded 26
points against the Minnesota Timberwolves, becoming the youngest 20-point
scorer in Mavericks history. By October 29, he scored his first 30-point game
against the San Antonio Spurs.
In January 2019, Dončić recorded his first NBA

Luka Dončić kicked off the 2019–20 NBA season with a triple-double
on October 25, 2019, posting 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in a win
against the New Orleans Pelicans. He followed up with multiple triple-doubles,
including a career-high 42 points against the San Antonio Spurs on November 18.
Dončić became the youngest player in NBA history to
record consecutive 35-point triple-doubles, breaking Oscar Robertson’s record.
He joined legends Michael Jordan, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook as the
only players to do so since 1983. In December 2019, Dončić won his first NBA
Player of the Month award, making him the youngest Western Conference winner.
On January 4, 2020, he recorded 39 points, 12 rebounds,

win over the Golden State Warriors. Days later, on February 12, he set a new
career-high with 46 points, along with 12 assists and eight rebounds, in a 143–130
victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Dončić delivered another historic performance on May 1,
registering 31 points, 12 rebounds, and a career-high 20 assists in a 125–124
win over the Washington Wizards. He became just the fourth player in NBA
history to record a 30-point triple-double with 20+ assists, joining Oscar
Robertson, Magic Johnson, and Russell Westbrook.
On May 7, Dončić reached 5,000 career points at just 22
years and 68 days old, making him the fourth-youngest player to reach that
milestone, following LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Carmelo Anthony.
In the 2021 NBA Playoffs, he led the Mavericks past the Los
